so ...

is anyone still doing this? I quit after two weeks of the sit-ups, but am still doing the Couch to 5K program. I'm actually signed up to do a run next weekend. I'm even getting the timing chip and am a little nervous about it. {It probably doesn't help that Matt has two co-workers running, too, and he told them I'm fast, which I'm not ...} Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone was able to stick this thing out!

Push-up Challenge

Ok, so I'm a week behind on this whole program (sorry guys!) But, I am committed and determined to finish this. I have a question for all of you out there--how are you doing your push-ups? Are you doing "girl" push-ups? I really want to be able to do 100 real push-ups, but I can barely do 1 push-up that way. I'm doing the girl version, but don't want to feel like I'm cheating. Also, is there a suggestion in the program to work from the girl version to a full push-up? If so, please let me know as I didn't see it on the site. Would love to get some feed back! I hope everyone's enjoying the program. I definitely am and certainly feel stronger from just a few of these workouts.

I have to be honest.

I haven't kept up with the push-up challenge. I am doing the sit-up challenge {week 2}, though, and the Couch to 5K program {week 1}. Hey, I'm just proud of myself for keeping up with 2 out of 3. I think I'll do the push-ups after I finish the sit-ups and have run my race.

If any of you are running, I found this great site. I signed up for a free membership and can map out my runs and log them on my workout tracker. It logs the miles on my running shoes, keeps track of distances run and calories burned. There's even an iphone app for it ... one more reason I need an iphone!

Double Mint

You guys. Today my pushups max was 10. For anyone who is keeping track, that's twice my initial test! I feel good! Even though I'm actually sick and really not feeling good, I feel good! How is everyone's week 2 going? Don't quit now! It's about to get easier, I know it!

3rd workout...done

I almost didn't get it done but i did! (thank you Stef for pushing me to get it done! haha) I already feel stronger when doing push ups! who would have thought! It is definitely still hard, but it seems easier than when i did them in my initial workout. 1 week down, 5 to go! Although if i can do this diligently for 6 weeks, it's probably something that i will continue to do, which is never a bad thing! Anyways, there's my update! Good luck in week 2 everyone!!

Hello!!

Hello all! Well this is exciting! I have to admit this is the first time I've been to the blog...oops! But I think it's so great that we're all in this together! I always do so much better when I know other people are in it with me! So Christian and I started Monday and we haven't missed a day! We're doing our push-ups Mon, Wed, and Fri and we're doing our sit-ups Tues, Thurs, and Sat! I'm SO glad Christian's doing it with me! So I already maxed out 2 more than my initial amount of push-ups too! And I'm feeling the burn! Mandy I love the running plan you have! I think I might start using it too! Also, Jillian from biggest loser has work out videos, I'm sure you all know that, but if you have Comcast, they're ALL On Demand! I haven't tried any myself yet, but I've heard really great things about them! For those of you with busy schedules, sometimes you just can't make it to the gym so it's nice to have an alternative! Well I hope all of you are doing great with your work outs! I'm so excited to be doing this!!!

better late than never...

I did my initial test on Monday and my first workout yesterday...
turns out I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to starting.

initial push-ups: 6
initial sit-ups: 58
hips: 38 waist: 27.5 chest: 34.5 arm: 10

I already don't want to do the sit-ups, cause it tends to hurt my neck more than it targets my abs and I get bored with them. I'm thinking of doing leg-lifts instead. Unless someone has any tips on how not to get bored with sit-ups?

Day 2

Day 2... Check! Ok so I wasn't sure how I felt about this today because I'm still sore from Mondays work out, but oh my goodness! I feel so good now! And the best part is... I maxed out today with 2 more pushups than my initial test! That means I'm already getting stronger! And I know I'm probably making this up in my head, but I swear my stomach looks flatter! So encouraged! How did everyone else's Day 2 go?

Ps. Did I mention that Rodney, Mac and Christian are all doing this with us too? So exciting! And Rodney mentioned that it's important to stretch each day before doing the exercises so any suggestions of good stretches to do?

ouch.....

that's all i can say! haha it's the best kind of hurt though so i'm stickin' with it!

tested and true

Well, just to echo the theme of everyone else, I'm finally starting my workouts! Last night I did my first night and it was pretty difficult, I don't know what I expected it to be, but those push ups are killer. It's going good though, it's nice to have a place to come and report to, it's keeping me honest, haha. Hope everyone is working hard, but still having a good time!

so it begins.

So, I just did my first workout today. I'm pathetic, apparently, because I can already feel the soreness and it's only been two hours. I didn't realize how weak my core got from that whole pregnancy thing until I started this. I just hope I'll still be able to pick up my 20 pound 7-month-old tomorrow.

Just so I have these somewhere, my inital sit up test was 45 and my push-ups limit was 5. Man, I'm a wimp. {And I took my measurements, but they're not going up on here. I'm not quite ready to share ... maybe at the end of the six weeks!}

I'm also doing the couch to 5k program. In case anyone else wants to do it, here's the schedule: {And just to clarify, the weekday running is in minutes, not miles. I'm not crazy.}

And Stef? This is a great idea. I feel like I can't skip doing it because someone will call me out on it.

Oh, and here's a shout out to Megan for the blog header. I love it!

Woo Hoo!

You guys... I did it! I did the first work out. I'm proud of myself! This may seem dumb or kind of lame but really... I actually did it! How's everyone else feeling so far?

Initial Test and Measurements

Ok so I just did my initial tests and my measurements. A little disappointing but hey... that's why we're doing this right!?! So here's my info:

Pushups: 5 *which is 4 more than I thought I could do!
Sit Ups: 38
Measurements: ch-34, w-29, hp-36, arm-10

This puts me in the lowest category for both which is totally fine! How did everyone else fair on their initial tests?

Here we go! I'm so excited!!

Pocketbooks

For those who haven't found this handy little link, on the websites there is a link on the left entitled "complete program," there they have downloadable, one-page, PDF files of the entire program. It's easy to print and keep and fold to a very small size so that you don't need access to a computer every time you want to work out. Good luck to everyone!
